Runescape developer Jagex is working on something new.
According to Jagex’s careers page, the developer has a new, unannounced game in the works. Its advertisement for a lead programmer makes explicit mention of an “undisclosed MMO”.
The ad mentions the new title is in “the preliminary stages of redefining the cross platform MMORPG genre” and makes direct reference to Runescape as a separate project.
“This is the ultimate opportunity for an experienced lead or senior programmer with a solid background in MMO development to create something new and exciting, with the support of a company known globally for its expertise in this genre,” Jagex said.
Although it’s definitely best known for Runescape, which was a revolution when first released and is still the world’s largest free-to-play MMORPG, Jagex isn’t a one-trick pony. As well as its publishing efforts, it was behind 8Realms and Transformers Universe, both now shuttered, and has Block ‘N’ Load and Chronicle: Runescape Legends in the works.
