Before Dementium: The Ward became a Nintendo DS release, developer Renegade Kid pitched it to Konami as a possible Silent Hill game.

Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham revealed on Twitter recently that the studio pitched Dementium: The Ward to Konami in 2007 as a Silent Hill game.

Watsham told IGN that the studio was open to the idea of a licensed game and approached Konami to see if a Silent Hill game on the DS was possible.

“They were kind enough to meet with us, but the meeting only lasted a few minutes and ended with their [representative] saying they wouldn’t let a team like us handle the Silent Hill license,” he added

The studio approached Konami a second time to pitch a third-person Silent Hill game based on the Dementium 2 engine. Which looked like this:

Konami turned it down too. “Konami’s response that time wasn’t dismissive like the first time. They simply didn’t want to venture into the DS space with a horror title at that time,” he said.

Renegade Kid said late last year to expect Dementium news in 2015.
