Mad Max will have bases which vary in difficulty, some of which are considered a “finale” for a particular region and feature a boss fight.
Speaking in the latest issue of GamesMaster via GamesRadar, the game’s producer John Fuller said this allows players to tailor their experience by deciding how much of a challenge they want.
“We do sort of telegraph difficulty, with every camp has a difficulty marking,” said Fuller. “Then you’ll see maybe one or two in each territory that are called Top Dog camps, kind of like a finale for that region where you have a boss fight.
“The level of difficulty is greater there, the number of enemies is pumped up, and so on. We want to allow you to make choices, and if you consistently choose to go in gung-ho without preparing yourself, then obviously you can give yourself a very hard gaming experience.”
Avalanche and Warner Bros. released a video yesterday, showing the first look at gameplay in Mad Max. It showed melee combat, car combat, customisation and a brief glimpse of a larger base at the end.
Mad Max is out in September for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
