Submerged is the latest title in development from Uppercut Games, and the exploration-adventure game is coming to PlayStation 4 and other platforms this year.
The game takes place in a flooded city which Miku and her wounded brother Taku have reached by boat. Miku needs to find a safe place for her brother to rest while she searches for the supplies needed to aid in his recovery.
Using the duo’s boat and telescope, Miku will set out to locate supply caches stashed in buildings overgrown with vegetation.
Along the way, Miku will discover how the city came to be in its current state and why the only residents are “malformed copies of native sea-life. As the game progresses, the player will also learn more about the characters and their reason for venturing to the sunken metropolis.
Submerged is in development using Unreal Engine 4 and was designed with “no failure states” in place, which means the player can explore the world at-will without the rick of dying.
A release date has not been announced, but the announcement trailer from October notes an “early 2015” release on consoles, PC and mobile.
