The challenge towers in Mortal Kombat X will rotate in DLC characters, giving everyone the chance to try them before forking out the cash.
Mortal Kombat X will bring back the Challenge Towers mode and it’s through this mode that you’ll get to try any of the game’s DLC characters, even if you don’t own them.
Creative director Ed Boon told Angry Joe in a video interview that a new type of Challnge Towers will be introduced in Mortal Kombat X, called the ‘Living Towers’.
“And every time you turn the game on, there’s going to be three towers in the Living Towers section. One changes every hour, one changes every day, and one is called the Premier Tower, which is kind of like an event tower.
“So for instance, if [DLC character Jason Voorhees] comes along, you’re going to have a Jason tower that you play as Jason. And you can even use that tower if you didn’t purchase Jason. So it’s really cool, it gives the players a taste of what the character [is] and what it’s like to play them.”
Jason is one of four characters already announced for the fighter’s season pass. There’s no date yet for any of them.
