EA has just announced the departure of veteran executive Frank Gibeau.
The former Mobile executive vice president spent over two decades at EA but what he intends to move onto next is unknown.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson released a statement on Gibeau’s resignation, saying that “Frank Gibeau has chosen to transition on from Electronic Arts. Throughout a more than 20-year career, Frank’s made many significant contributions to the company, our people and our games. Most recently, he’s worked to strengthen EA Mobile by building a great team. We’d like to thank Frank for his achievements at EA, and we wish him all the best in his next chapter.”
Wilson stressed that mobile games would continue to be a key focus and that the mobile development team would report directly to him in the interim.
After being reassigned to a less influential role and selling his stock last year, Gibeau’s departure was predicted by analyst Michael Pachter. It may be coming over a year later, but I guess he was right!
