Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight out in US this fall, EU in February 2016

Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight will be released in the west starting this fall.

The 3DS title is basically two games in one: the 3DS update to Etrian Odyssey 2: Heroes of Lagaard with new dungeon layouts, new graphics, and system improvements featured in Untold; and the full Untold portion.

The Untold portion contains a new story mode featuring the Fafnir Knight and Princess Arianna along with a fixed party, voiced dialogue, and animated cutscenes.

Here’s a list of key features:

Creatures of Comfort – Vastly improved game systems makes the game easily approachable for beginners, but still challenging for die-hard veterans.

Brand New Additions – A brand new character class called the Fafnir. Only available in the game’s Story mode, the Fafnir gives players the ability to transform into a beastly demonic form to enhance attributes and abilities – potentially turning a losing battle into a narrow victory. New changes to the Grimoire stone system let players customize their entire party as well, allowing members to use abilities from different classes.

Bring a Blanket – Just as in Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl and Persona Q, in addition to normal difficulty, players can choose Picnic mode for a low-difficulty experience, or veterans can choose Expert mode for a punishing play-through.

Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight will be released at retail and digitally through the eShop in North America on August 4.

The game will be released at retail and through the eShop in Europe, but it will not arrive in the region until February 12, 2016.
