The new Need for Speed game will utilise the latest version of EA’s Frostbite engine.
We don’t know much about the Need for Speed reboot. We do know that it won’t carry a subtitle and that it’s only coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Being a new-gen-only game, it would make sense that the same technology powering Star Wars: Battlefront, will be used to build Need for Speed. That technology, you guessed it, is the Frostbite engine. The same engine behind Dragon Age: Inquisition and the Battlefield games.
Johan Andersson, technical director on Frostbite engine and one of its key developers confirmed it on Twitter.
Our next @NeedForSpeed by @GhostGamesEA running on the same version of @FrostbiteEngine as Battlefront! https://t.co/u1BIeB6d9S

On the new game itself, the official Twitter account revealed that there’s a lot of shared legacy between the Underground games and the reboot.
@NormanJay3 it’s not Underground 3 as such, but does share a lot of the stuff that made that game great. This is just #NFS

Expect to hear more about the game, and see actual gameplay footage, during EA’s media briefing next month.
