The Witcher 3: Blindingly Obvious

As soon as you enter the second floor room where Triss is waiting, she starts scolding you. You have a limited time to make a choice of reply, but your answer doesn’t matter.

You’ll learn Keira’s fate in the conversation that follows, which depends on your actions in For the Advancement of Learning (assuming you pursued this quest line). If things went badly, you’ll trigger the secondary quest A Final Kindness, which you should get out of the way ASAP.

Triss asks you to meet her at a fountain to perform some magic to track down Philippa. If you’re ready, agree to go with her then and there.

If Triss is your love interest, the scene that follows is extended to include some discussion of the couple’s potential future. In either case, you see Philippa is at Dijkstra’s bathhouse.

Follow Triss to the bathhouse, where shit has gotten real. You can’t keep Triss with you, unfortunately.

Apply Hanged Man’s Venom and Ogroid Oil, then enter the baths. Take down the guards who come for you and follow Philippa by taking the ladder in the central bath.

Two more guards await you, and then Bart, Dijkstra’s troll. You can talk you way past him by saying you want to help Philippa, who has a stomachache. Otherwise, battle him.

Apply Elemental Oil before proceeding; Philippa is not at home to Mr Reasonable and summons a Fire Elemental when you catch up.

When the Elemental is down, climb up to the catwalk around the room and walk slowly towards Philippa.

In the conversation that follows, be pleasant and conciliatory to Dijkstra for best results, as this unlocks an important secondary quest – Reason of State. You need to have completed the quest A Deadly Plot and visited the Emperor during Blood on the Battlefield for this outcome, I think.

This concludes the quest. You can now go on with The Great Escape or Payback, or if you’ve done both of those already, head for Through Time and Space.

Onwards to The Great Escape, or Payback, or Through Time and Space – or back to Final Preparations.
