Mother, the first game in the series we know as Earthbound in the west, is finally available in English.
Earthbound Beginnings was revealed ruing Nintendo’s pre-E3 presentations today, and will release on the eShop in North America at 6:00pm PT today – just a few hours away.
Mother launched on the NES in 1989, and was not localised. Although fan translations are available, this is the first time the much-lauded RPG has been available officially.
The cult-favourite SNES game we know as Earthbound is called Mother 2 in Japan. A third series entry, Mother 3, was released on Game Boy Advance in 2006, and has likewise not been officially localised.
