First-person shooter Bedlam is coming to PC, Mac and current-gen consoles this August, and it’s described by its developers as a “love letter” to online gaming in the ’80s and ’90s.
Based on the novel of the same name by a Christopher Brookmyre, who also consulted on the game.
In Bedlam, players step into the shoes of Heather Quinn and must make their way through various levels referencing classic video games and genres.
According to developer RedBedlam, Heather is a scientist developing medical technology for the corporation Neurosphere. After she volunteers as a test subject for new a brain scanning tech, she finds herself “trapped in Starfire” which is sci-fi game she spent her teenage years playing. She must find her way out at all costs.
Bedlam was announced in 2013 and has been in Early Access on Steam since August of last year.
It releases on Mac, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime this August.
