Betting website Betway, which generally specializes in athletic sports, believes Blizzard’s Hearthstone has 99-1 shot of being an official sport of the 2030 Winter Olympics.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Betway says it’s the first major betting site to launch a dedicated eSports portal.

Users can bet on eSports tournaments for games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, League of Legends and others.

The site has placed odds on whether some of today’s popular eSports titles will be included in the 2030 Winter Olympics 2030 under “Specials”.

“Hearthstone has well over 30 million players and is a growing force in eSports,” Betway’s Alan Alger told Eurogamer. “There are many Winter Olympic sports that don’t have participation figures of even a 10th of Hearthstone’s.

“To become an Olympic sport, a sport needs to be ‘widely practiced in no fewer than 40 countries and on three continents’ according to the Olympic Charter. Hearthstone ticks both boxes with ease. We feel that Hearthstone to be part of the 2030 Winter Olympics isn’t out of the question, in fact odds of 99-1 are probably far too generous.”

The aforementioned Hearthstone’s 99-1 odds aren’t as high as those of other games. According to Betway, Dota 2 has a 79-1 shot, CS:GO has even better odds of 49-1 while World of Tanks is 499-1.

Alger said eSports is regularly featured in the site’s daily top 10 sports for turnover and four figure bets have already been made on CS:GO, Dota 2, FIFA and League of Legends.

So, anywhere from $1,000-$9,999 then. My gawd. Then again, I once watch a guy bet his entire multi-million dollar farm’s payroll on a horse race. No joke. And he lost.
