Scalebound to “show the power of what Xbox One can do,” says Kamiya

Scalebound is one of Xbox One’s most anticipated exclusives for a reason.

Scalebound was on show at gamescom 2015. The open-world RPG represented a change from the usual Platinum Games formula. The game is still very much a mystery, but director Hideki Kamiya wants to make it a banner exclusive for Xbox One.

Speaking to Metro, Kamiya said he wants the game to show off what the console can do.

“So in terms of, say, Scalebound, which is an exclusive title for Xbox One, my ultimate goal and mission is that this will help appeal to, and also heighten the value, of not just my game but also the console, and show the power of what Xbox One can do,” he said.

Kamiya added that despite his heritage, he wants to earn the trust of players and Microsoft alike.

“Towards the players, my commitment and my promise to them is that you’re buying a game that we created and you’re paying for it,” said Kamiya.

“I need to make sure that you get the value, and hopefully even more, for the amount that you’ve paid. So I think that very simply fact is what keeps us going, because our partners see the commitment that we put into the games that we’re making.”

Scalebound is still without a firm release date, but we’re expecting it in holiday 2016.
