Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain topped the Media Create charts in Japan, taking the top two slots on the list and giving PlayStation 4 a nice sales boost in the region.
The game was released on September 2 in Japan, and by the end of the reporting period, it had moved 411,199 units total on PlayStation systems.
Broken down, it sold 293,652 copies on PS4 and 117,547 on PS3.
Comparatively, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots moved 476,334 units its first week on sale so The Phantom Pain trails it by 65,135 units.
Sony also saw a large uptick in PS4 sales thanks to the title. The console moved 54,494 units compared to 18,539 the prior week.
You can have a look at the full Media Create sales for August 31- September 6 over on Gematsu.
The Phantom Pain was also the number one title in the UK this week, with 72% percent of sales attributed to the PS4 version, 22% of sales on Xbox One. The PS3 and Xbox 360 skus accounted for 3% of overall sales.
Mind, both charts only provide figures for retail sales, not digital.
The US NPD charts will be released later this month, and we expect The Phantom Pain tops the chart in the States as well.
