There’s a legendary Stranger’s Rifle in Destiny: The Taken King – here’s how to get it

Yes, there’s a legendary version of The Stranger’s Rifle, the Crucible gem you receive for completing Destiny’s story, after patch 2.0. Here’s how you get it.

There’s a special gift in Destiny: The Taken King: a legendary version of The Stranger’s Rifle, the weapon given to you by your mysterious guardian after you complete the story missions in the original game. The pulse rifle has a hefty reputation in the Crucible, and this will no doubt continue now it’s been levelled up.

Ready for the bonus? You already have it if you completed the story from Destiny’s first year, assuming you didn’t junk it. Just check in your vault, or wherever you put it, and you’ll see it’s now purple.

Didn’t keep it? No worries. Here’s how you get another one without running the entire story again.

(Massive thanks to Zander0410 from Hellraisers Fury for the heads-up!)

1) Go to the “iPad” board in the Hall of Guardians in the Tower. It’s next to the Vanguards on the right as you walk in. As you approach, you’ll see “Access Abandoned Quests”.

2) Select the Fruit of the Garden quest on the bottom right.

3) Complete the missions as instructed. It’s a 13-stage quest that takes you from A Stranger’s Call on Venus, the mission in which you first encounter the Vex, right to the end of the original story-line. If you’re level 34 you’ll find it easy. Take solar weapons – especially Abyss Defiant and Gjallarhorn – as a large portion of the quest involves fighting the Cabal. Run them on the easiest difficulty and skip all the cut-scenes.

4) You end the quest by visiting the Speaker in the Tower. Check your inventory. You now have the gun. It’s a year-one legendary, so you’ll need some Legendary Marks to boost it up to House of Wolves damage levels. Happy killing.
