The upcoming Star Wars Battlefront will have in-game currencies you can only earn by playing the game, with no option for no microtransactions.

DICE has confirmed that there isn’t going to be an option for players to buy in-game credits using real-world money. “Well the currency system is based on your game performance. The credits that you use to buy things in the game are earned,” design director Niklas Fegraeus told Gamespot.

“You play the game, complete challenges, and that’s how you get credits,” he added, explaining that in-game performance is the only way to obtain everything in the game.

Fegraeus added that there are two different currencies in-game, but that both work in tandem to reward players for different actions.

“There are several [credit] systems working together here. Just doing things in the game earns you points, and those [points] earn you credits.

“That’s the baseline system; the more you do, the more credits you get. But then there are other systems, such as small challenges for you to complete, and rewards for different actions.”

Star Wars Battlefront is out November 17 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. An open beta for the game starts this Thursday.
