The number of game pre-orders is going up, despite the negative sentiment towards the concept.

Pre-order numbers as well as pre-order revenues were up this year compared to 2014. That’s according to an Adobe Digital Index report (via VentureBeat).

The number of pre-orders increased by 24 percent this year, a 33 percent year-on-year revenue increase. This is the same report that said The Phantom Pain’s launch day sales are above those of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Consumers are not happy however, despite the increase. A poll conducted by Adobe reveals that 33 percent of consumers associated ‘sadness’ with pre-orders the most, with emotions like ‘joy’ or ‘admiration’ representing 18 percent each.

Most recently, Square Enix had to cancel its pre-order campaign for the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, after a number of critics and players expressed their resentment to the way this particular campaign was presented.
