What the hell is up with those short, bizarre Halo 5: Guardians trailers?

343 and Microsoft have produced some of the strangest, completely wacky trailers in the lead-up to Halo 5: Guardians’ launch.

Halo 5: Guardians follows the usual PR cycle of continuously releasing trailers all the way up to launch. We had our launch trailer, our story trailer – all the usual.

However, Microsoft and 343 are promoting the Halo 5: Live event in the most bizarre way; by releasing very short, incredibly perplexing trailers. These aren’t just weird because they’re foreshadowing something, but because they’re completely out of left field.

The Halo 5: Live event starts 6pm EDT today, and will go on for six hours and include celebrity interviews, developer insight, and other celebrations.

Here are all of these trailers, in chronological order.

Starting with Oh Yeaaaah. I don’t even…

Then to a more relevant note with Thug Life.

Now onto Dramatic Music, which recounts a completely known and perfectly valid cinematic trick.

This is Feeling Blue, in which Jazz meets sombre Master Chief, meets… You’ll see.

This one is about the Promethean Phaeton, in the style of car advertisements.

And here’s 60 Bucks. No, not the money.

And finally, Hunt the Hunt the hunt the hunt.

Do any of these make sense? Well, whatever the case, the game they’re advertising is pretty good.
