30 minutes of Rime footage show breathtaking world, puzzle solving, scaring off and making friends with animals

You can already tell Rime will be a joy to play and watch.

Rime, the next project from Deadlight developers at Tequila Works, recently got a bit of a re-reveal after being quiet for a long while. Rime is now a multi-platform title, due for release in the first half of 2017.

As part of IGN First, the site released a 27-minute video of the game showing the starting area. The footage starts off with our hero waking up on the beach of a mysterious island, but quickly goes on to show light puzzle-solving, exploration, Uncharted-style platforming, and much more.

It definitely feels like we’ll be spending some of our time collecting items to unlock new paths in the world, as well as gain new companions. The world sort of leads you to where you should go by dropping subtle clues and highlighting certain parts of the environment.

The music together with the high-contrast visual design really give off a wondrous vibe, very different from Deadlight’s grim and tense tone.

Rime is out this May on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
