Overwatch can be played in VR, provided you’re using this omni-directional rig from Korea.
Overwatch fans love it enough to go through the pains of creating a VR rig that allows you to play it in virtual reality.
This isn’t just a camera mod, either, the makeshift rig you’re seeing above emulates the many functions you’d naturally find on a controller. Created by students in Korea, the setup relies on a Samsung Gear VR, the phone to power it, a PC, an IMB sensor, an Arduino chip, a motion-detection device, and ball bearing (via PCGamer).
As you can see, the design incorporates a toy gun used for aiming and reloading, and it works pretty well given the on-screen presentation, if a bit laggy. You lean towards the direction you want your character to move in, the rest comes naturally.
The video even goes into detailing how the device came together, listing the various pieces used and modifications made, if you understand any Korean.
