Horizon: Zero Dawn has sold over 2.6M units globally, is best-selling new first party IP launch on PS4 to-date
Horizon: Zero Dawn has been out for just two weeks now, and it has already sold millions of copies worldwide. And guess what? A story expansion is in the works.
Since it’s launch on February 28, Horizon: Zero Dawn has sold over 2.6 million units globally.
This makes it the best-selling new first party IP launch on PS4 to-date and Guerrilla’s biggest debut ever, according to Sony.
The figure includes both disc sell-through quantities and digital sales through the PlayStation Store.
“We’re thrilled that Horizon Zero Dawn has been embraced by critics and players alike,” said Guerrilla MD Hermen Hulst.
“Developing the game was a labor of love, so it’s extremely satisfying to see that it elicits the same passion and enthusiasm from the gaming public that we felt during its development.”
Hulst went on to say the team is “already hard at work on an expansion to the story,” as this is only the “beginning of Aloy’s story and our exploration of the world of Horizon: Zero Dawn.”
Sony has said previously Horizon: Zero Dawn has “a lot of potential” to become a new franchise, going to far as to call Aloy “a PlayStation icon of the future.”
