Mass Effect: Andromeda – no animation improvements planned for day one

The Mass Effect: Andromeda build we have now is the one we’ll be stuck with for a while.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is not even officially out yet, but from the little time people have been spending with the EA and Origin Access trials, things are not looking good.

Though it’s too early to say if the game is any good, those janky animations and general bugginess certainly aren’t doing it any favours. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll be stuck with those for the time being.

Though many had hoped a day one patch would alleviate some of these problems, it turns out the day one patch is indeed included with the EA/Origin Access builds. Lead designer Ian Frazier confirmed this on Twitter earlier.

Naturally, this prompted followers to ask if any improvements are being worked on, particularly when it comes to character animations. Frazier’s reply was disappointing.

“At day 1? No, that ship has sailed,” said the lead designer. “We’ll have more patches later on, but exactly what goes into them is still in discussion.”

Touching up every animation in the game, especially considering most issues appear in conversations, would be an impossible task. What’s more likely to happen is some improvements to the most egregious ones.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is out March 21 in the US, March 23 in the rest of the world for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
