The Dark Link costume from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time can be yours in Breath of the Wild, if you’re willing to do a bit of grinding.
There are plenty of callbacks to earlier Zelda games in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and that includes some of the fan favourite costumes and armour pieces making a return.
In this case, there’s a particular armour set from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. That’s the Dark Link set, and in the video above, Alex offers a step-by-step guide on how you can unlock it.
First, you’ll need to locate a vendor called Kilton. Kilton’s a creepy but polite chap who is obsessed with the monsters found across Hyrule. You first encounter Kilton as part of the ‘A Shady Customer’ quest, which can be first picked up in the East Akkala Stable. Kilton will first appear as part of this quest in Skull Lake, on the left, lower eye/island.
After finishing the quest, Kilton will now appear outside major towns at night. This vendor won’t accept Rupies, either. Instead, you’ll need Mon, a currency you can only get by trading monster parts with him.
This is where this turns into a bit of a grind, because you’re going to have to get a lot of monster parts so you can have enough Mon. Monster parts are dropped by monsters when killed.
The full Dark Link set costs 4,000 Mon (2,000 for the Hood, 1,000 for the Tunic, and another 1,000 for the Trousers). What you can do to make the farming process go quicker is kill the big Hinox bosses, which drop a decent amount of monster parts.
You can also fight the Lynel to get plenty of monster parts, but they’re very tough. The Dark Link armour set comes with some bonuses, too. Namely, the ability to move faster at night, which is great for stealth.
