CD Projekt’s financial results are in for last year, and it turns out that The Witcher series is a gift that keeps on giving.

Since its release in May 2015, The Witcher 3 sales have surpassed £200M, while the series of games as a whole has sold more than 25 million copies.

2016’s revenue was up 25% on the previous year, and vice president for financial affairs, Piotr Nielubowicz, said, “These excellent financial results for the past two years enable us to pursue new, ambitious undertakings and further expand our enterprise.

“Key development projects currently underway include Cyberpunk 2077 and GWENT: The Witcher Card Game.”

CD Projekt has spent almost £12.5M in development expenses, but still managed to post over £41.5M in positive cash flows.

“For years we have consistently prioritized quality and focused on a limited range of products. The persistently strong sales of the entire The Witcher series vindicate our approach and contribute to long-term appeal of our releases,” said CD Projeckt president, Adam Kiciński.

“This year we will continue to expand The Witcher brand – it is, after all, the year of GWENT. We’re in the process of organizing the game’s first major tournament, with a 100 thousand USD prize pool.

“Another crucial round of beta tests will commence in spring, with the retail release to follow in the second half of 2017.”

The release of The Witcher 3’s two DLC packs appear to have bolstered sales somewhat as well.

If you’re interested, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is having a technical beta on PS4 this weekend.

The closed beta is running on PC and Xbox One, with an open beta coming soon.

All in all, 2016 was a great year for the studio, and they deserve it.
