The Surge gives players control over what they loot from defeated enemies, and you get an idea of how this is accomplished in the latest video.
Let’s just say you’re going to be dismembering quite a few enemies in The Surge.
As seen above, players will be targeting specific body parts before damaging them with a combination of attacks. The part dismembered will then determine which piece of equipment is looted. This will be the schematic corresponding to the “sliced armor part,” salvaged materials for crafting the corresponding piece, or the enemies weapon.
Players will need to make a decision before approaching an enemy. They can go for a shorter fight by attacking vulnerably areas of the enemy, or go for length and battle for a chance at slicing off parts for a new piece of equipment.
The toughest enemies drop the most powerful weapons and armor, so it won’t be an easy fight.
Developed by Deck13, The Surge will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One May 16.
