Elite Dangerous players can now band together to fly their spaceships.
Elite Dangerous‘s long awaited 2.3 update, The Commanders, is now available.
If you own the Horizons expansion slash re-release of Elite Dangerous, the update brings you many gifts: the Holo-Me character creator, multi-crew play so you can co-op with your pals in one ship, extra seats in a bunch of ships and various new “mysterious things”. (It’s probably more aliens.)
Those who own the vanilla release of Elite Dangerous get fewer goodies, but they and their Horizons buddies can enjoy ship naming, vanity cameras on ships, 32 asteroid base stations, new challenge scenarios, custom engine trails, megaships, 100 new tourist beacons and Bucky Ball Beer Mats.
There have also been an astonishing number of fixes and balances for all versions of Elite Dangerous; visit the Frontier Developments forum for the full patch notes. The thought of formatting all those nested lists nearly kicked off a bloody revolution in the office, so you’ll just have to click out.
Here’s Frontier’s description of Elite Dangerous 2.3 The Commanders:
“The Commanders arrives at a time when all eyes have turned to Merope, where the Empire and Federation are drawing closer to a collision, and the Commanders of the Pilots Federation have encountered a spacecraft unlike anything designed by humanity. Elite Dangerous 2.3 puts its Commanders front and center, with new ways to play and new discoveries to be made.”
