Twitch has made it much easier for you to make those impulse purchases.
Twitch revealed last month that it’s working on establishing its own digital store to sell the games its audience comes to watch and stream. The store is now open for business, with many big names already on board.
Although it’s not a centralised store per se, you will be able to buy games using a dedicated button found on the page for any livestream. Buying from Twitch has two benefits. First, you get a Twitch Crate that includes randomised drops of exclusive emotes, chat badges, and Bits for cheering streamers.
Partnered streamers also get to earn 5% from the sales originating from their pages, provided they’ve opted into the commerce programme.
Over 50 titles are expected to become available over the next few days, including big games like For Honor, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Smite, Firewatch, and many more. You will be able to download your games using the Twitch Desktop App, or through keys for Uplay in the case of Ubisoft games.
As of this time, USD is the only currency that you’ll see on the store. More currencies and territories will be added “in the near future,” Twitch promises.
