Will Farpoint be considered the first proper shooter in VR?
HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift owners are swimming in a sea of mediocre shooters on Steam, but PlayStation VR fans don’t quite have the same luxury. With Sony acting as a gatekeeper, only worthy titles are admitted.
Farpoint is one of those. The game was shown a couple of years ago at different occasions, and was touted as the first true first-person shooter on the platform. Being developed by some of the people who worked on the SOCOM series, Farpoint always looked more like an actual game rather than a catchy tech demo.
The developers were so committed to their vision, they worked with Sony to create a new controller called PlayStation Aim that aims to elevate immersion by representing the in-game weapon in real life.
Here are the reviews so far.
