A second update for Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition has started rolling out, and better yet, the team at 4J Studios is looking into adding an update for 1080p in docked mode.
This is according to what 4J Studios’ CTO Richard Reavy told Digital Foundry when asked whether Minecraft: Switch Edition would be able to switch (hur hur) resolutions when docked and undocked. In other words, just like Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
He said the team is currently “investigating supporting native 1080p when docked as a future update.”
The reason the game currently displays in 720p docked and undocked was due to technical issues encountered shifting from one resolution to the other during development, according to what Microsoft said previously.
Hopefully, the studio can sort this out soon. Especially for Alex, as he seems really impressed with the Switch version.
Until the possible, future update arrives, players will be pleased to know today’s update fixes an issue where Switch would take screenshots of the game and go to the Home screen. This was a false press issue which occurred without any input.
A fix for Swap AB not functioning with Switch Pro Controllers was applied and the missing Campfire Tales skin pack was added.
Give the Digital Foundry video up top a watch, especially if you want to see how the Switch version compares with the PlayStation 4 release.
