Star Wars: Battlefront 2 video: Motive discusses why it wanted to tell the story from an Imperial viewpoint

A new video discussing the campaign in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has been released.

In it, the development team touches slightly upon how it plans to chronicle the 30-year story gap between Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi and Episode 7: The Force Awakens in Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

EA Motive, which is developing the campaign, came up with the idea of telling the story through Imperial Commander Iden Versio’s viewpoint. As previously reported, Spec Ops: The Line writer Walt Williams‏ and former IGN editor Mitch Dyer are co-writing the the story.

“It hadn’t really been done before, at least not at that fidelity,” Steve Blank, creative executive in LucasFilm’s story group told the PS Blog.

“They sold us from day one on that idea, and we put our nose to the grindstone — working on all the details of what that would become.”

The video above features some the game’s lead designers such as Mark Thompson, director at EA Motive, and Matt Webster, executive producer at EA Criterion Games.

To recap previous reports, DICE is handling the multiplayer, Criterion is developing the space battles, and again. Motive is handling the campaign.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is out November 17 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
