The Vanquish PC port will run at 60fps on many machines, but it’s not as forgiving as Bayonetta when it comes to PC specs.
Sega finally released the PC version of Vanquish this week after years and years of fan requests and pleas.
The game’s PC specs are very modest, and it comes with support for 4K resolution and many other PC options you expect. With how impressive the Bayonetta port ran, many expected Vanquish to behave in the same way.
While that’s mostly true, the game actually requires PCs that are a bit more powerful, according to Digital Foundry‘s analysis. The one thing that stands out, however, compared to Bayonetta, is that frame-rate is uncapped which is great for those looking to push it past 60fps.
As far as the actual port, textures and other materials appear to have been lifted from the console versions, which is disappointing but not totally surprising considering its age. That said, the site did notice stuttering when playing the cut-scenes, which max out at 30fps and often drop below that.
Amusingly, the it’s the cut-scenes that make up the vast majority of the game’s install size. Out of the total 18.6GB size, only 2.5GB represent actual game files, with the rest all taken up by pre-rendered videos.
Towards the end of the analysis, the site tests a spec configuration that’s been commonly compared to the power of PS4/Xbox One. By pairing an i5 6500 with a GTX 750 Ti and running max settings at 1080p, the GPU actually struggles to hit 60fps most of the time, though dropping a few settings helps greatly.
