Well that’s what we think it’s for anyway.
The Destiny servers are going offline today so don’t panic if you’ve tried to log on and are getting a Beaver error.

Over on the blog post about the maintenance, it reiterates that “Destiny is no longer schedule to receive any game updates or content releases,” so it’s very likely that the maintenance is to prep for the Destiny 2 beta which is just a few weeks away.
Servers will be offline for a whopping nine hours, and you can get a breakdown of what’s happening when below.
- 7AM PT/ 10AM ET/ 3PM BST – Destiny server maintenance is scheduled to begin. Players will no longer be able to login to Destiny.
- 8AM PT/ 11PM ET/ 4PM BST – Players will be removed from activities and returned to the login screen. Destiny servers will be unavailable during the rest of the maintenance period.
- 4PM PT/ 7PM ET/ 12AM June 28 BST – Destiny server maintenance is scheduled to end. The server maintenance will not introduce any content changes or gameplay impact.
Do you think Bungie is preparing for the Destiny 2 beta? What else could they be doing in the nine hour downtime for a game that has no more updates scheduled? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Update: Destiny servers are back online after being extended an additional two hours.
