GTA 5 video depicts the tale of Rockstar’s killing of OpenIV and other mods in an amazing way

The GTA Online community is sending Rockstar a message about the shutting down of mod tools in many different ways.

The GTA 5 – and by extension GTA Online communities, have been having a rough few days.

This kerfuffle started when Rockstar parent company Take-Two unexpectedly sent a cease and desist to the creators of OpenIV, prompting the long-running modding suite to shut down.

Rockstar later said the move was done to protect GTA Online from cheating, and added that OpenIV enabled such cheats. It wasn’t until this week’s news of the company cracking down on even more cheating tools and mods that it became clear the move was bigger than just the targeting of OpenIV.

Regardless, the game’s community pushed back, creating a petition, flooding Rockstar’s social channels, and even going so far as mass reviewing the game on Steam negatively, which resulted in the recent score dropping to ‘Overwhelmingly Negative.’

In yet another one of the community’s attempts to fight back, YouTube channel GTA Series Videos created a short video about the whole thing (via PCGamer), depicting Rockstar as gun-toting security personnel violently coming after mod creators.

Titled ‘The Purge (RIP Mods)’, the video not only shows Rockstar in a bad light, it even highlights the many wonderful community creations the company supposedly killed with this move. You can easily spot mods such as spot mods such as Hulk, Mario, and many others being gunned down by Rockstar agents.

It’s all a bit sad, if not very subtle. As it stands, if this continues, GTA 5 players will be left with very few options when it comes to modding the game.
