Monster Hunter World isn’t watering down elements of the series in an attempt to sell it to a “casual western audience”
Monster Hunter World isn’t changing up gameplay “to make western players buy it.”
Monster Hunter World was announced for Ps4 and Xbox One at E3 and there are going to be some changes when compared to other titles in the series.
Arekkz has already summed up what we know so far about the game, and in the video above, he focuses on a deeper analysis of weapons and moves.
If you’re a fan of the series and are concerned that Monster Hunter World is going to be dumbed down for its western audience, you’ll be relieved to know that’s not the case.
“We’re not taking things that people in the west hate and fixing them to make western players buy it,” executive director Kaname Fujioka told IGN. “People sometimes make that assumption, or they’ve got that fear, but that’s not the case at all.”
Talking more about the changes to gameplay, he said, “If you want to ask where we draw the line between ‘change this’ and ‘don’t change that, then that’s what the difference is: do our new seamless gameplay design and seamless monster interactions necessitate a change, or do they not?
“It certainly isn’t appeasement to get sales to a casual western audience – the new gameplay has to mesh with the new concept or else it would just be a mess.”
