Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition heading to PS4 and Xbox One for all the RPG fans out there

Paradox Interactive and Obsidian Entertainment are bringing the isometric, party-based RPG Pillars of Eternity to consoles.

The game inspired by Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment remains the fourth most funded video game project on Kickstarter.

Known as Project Eternity when it launched on the crowdfunding service in September 2012, Pillars of Eternity was released on PC in March 2015. It was rather popular with critics, too.

Now, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can get in on the RPG fun when the Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition releases on the consoles August 29.

The game has been adapted for consoles by Paradox Arctic and features an enhanced UI and redesigned controls so the game can be “navigated easily and intuitively” using game controllers. It also contains the expansions The White March: Parts 1 & 2.

It will be distributed at physical retail by 505 Games and more details will be shared by Paradox closer to the release of Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition.

In January of this year, Obsidian announced Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire was in development, and launches a crowdfunding campaign through Fig instead of Kickstarter. The studio chose Fig in order to offer both equity and reward opportunities to backers.

Like Pillars of Eternity before it, Pillars 2 smashed through its $1.1 million funding goal in record time. In the end, $4.5 million was thrown at the project by 33,614 backers.
