This Vampyr gameplay demonstration highlights story, combat, and difficult choices

This new video for Dontnod’s upcoming title, Vampyr, takes an extended look at both gameplay and Dr. Jonathan Reid’s story.

In the Vampyr mission shown above running on PlayStation 4, a patient at Pembrook Hospital, Sean Hampton, went into the room of another patient and turned it into a slaughter house. It is up to Reid to find Hampton last seen on the docks and put his rein of terror to an end.

Reid will have more than just a rogue vampire to deal with: The Guard aren’t fond of vampires, and quite fanatical in their hatred. Luckily for Reid, the hospital is considered sacred ground, with no bloodshed allowed. Pity Hampton didn’t adhere to the rules.

The video also provides a look at the various choices offered to Reid along with a combat demonstration.

Set in 1918 during the Spanish Influenza epidemic, Vampyr tells the story of a doctor – who is also a vampire – tasked with trying to uphold his Hippocratic oath while being forced to hunt for survival. The key will be balance, but players can also complete the game without killing anyone for sustenance.

Vampyr will release in November, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One
