Splatoon 2 and the Destiny 2 beta aren’t the only hot nonsense dropping this week. Get set.

There’s a fair bit happening this week, just to throw us all for a loop when we’re settling into the summer release drought fugue state.

First up is Splatoon 2, the Switch’s next big thing. The first game was excellent but arrived late in the Wii U’s lifespan; hopefully the Switch’s excited new install base means this family-friendly but frantic shooter gets even more attention. Did you join the Splatoon 2 Splatfest demo this weekend?

Speaking of shooters, be sure to check out the Destiny 2 beta, which is going to go big this week. PS4 players can jump in on Tuesday if they have pre-order or bonus access codes, while everyone else has to wait a day or more. For all the information on that, check out our guide to redeeming Destiny 2 beta codes and start times information.

A couple of hot indies are spreading to new platforms this week, too. Amazing stop-start action scene choreography affair Superhot arrives on PS4, while emotional walking simulator What Remains of Edith Finch hits Xbox One.

That’s not all that’s happening though. Unusual MOBA Gigantic releases in full for PC and Xbox One after a troubled history of being yet another game cancelled by Microsoft. Level-5 fans are looking forward to Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and The Millionaire’s Conspiracy on mobile. There’s a bit of buzz around the release of Orcs Must Die Unchained among greenskin fans, too.
