The next big Dota 2 update will add two new characters to the game’s expansive roster.
The trailer above screened at the conclusion of the official Dota 2 International 2017 livestream, and showed a CGI imagining of how one of them might play.
Neither character was given a name, but one seemed to be a swashbuckling cat, not unlike Puss in Boots, but with a French accent. Anyone who has ever owned a cat will tell you that, yes, this creature that runs around ripping everything to shreds is an accurate depiction of how they act.
At the end, the other character – some sort of purple fairy, controlling a smaller, rounder fairy – pops up. Very little is shown about her, beyond the implication, perhaps, that she will be able to attack at range.
Both heroes will be added in the ‘Dueling Fates’ update, but absolutely no further details have been provided – we don’t know when that will happen, or who these characters are exactly. Hopefully we’ll be able to unpack their abilities soon.
