Final Fantasy 15 fields an impressively detailed character customisation suite for its upcoming multiplayer DLC.
One of the surprise hits of the Final Fantasy 15 multiplayer beta is the avatar creation menu.
In the video below you’ll see Arekkz run through the creation process for both a male and a female avatar. While this beta version only has limited options – there are only a few hairstyles to choose from, but it seems pretty clear there’ll be many more in the full release – there’s a surprising amount of granularity available.
As well as all the usual options like hair colour, tattoos, scars and face paint, you can build your face by blending two “ancestors”, or dive deep with sliders for, well, practically everything. We don’t see this sort of thing in a game with graphics as good as Final Fantasy 15 very often – especially on consoles.
I love robust character suites. Games like Black Desert, Dragon’s Dogma and the Souls series which give you so much control over even your character’s basic body shape really make BioWare or Bungie’s customisation look limited.
Anyway, dive on into the Final Fantasy 15 Comrades beta if you want to check it out. It’s available on both PS4 and Xbox One, and you need to own the Final Fantasy 15 season pass to try it out.
