Watch how far the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds vaulting animations have come

We’re getting closer to seeing the amazing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds vaulting animations in the game, it looks like.

The new animations were first unveiled at at E3 in June, but it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from developer Bluehole.

Many suspected the patch released earlier this month would be the one to add them into the game, but it didn’t turn out to be the case. Now, one of the game’s programmers at Bluehole shared new footage of how far the system has come.

The vault speed will depend on the momentum of your character, so a running jump would be faster than one you initiate from a standing position. What’s more, you can even cancel the animation before reaching the “apex” should you need to.

The developer’s notes also indicate that players will have the ability to force a vault instead of a climb. The vault animation is faster, and doesn’t expose your body for as long, though we’re not sure how we’ll be able to force that.

The video also nicely demonstrates that, thanks to the new tech, we’ll able to reach ledges higher up by climbing on boxes and other objects below. This may prove very beneficial when you’re, say, trying to breach a house, or looking to ambush others on the bridge.

Bluehole has not said when we can expect these to be implemented. We hope to see it in the next patch, though.
