Need for Speed Payback’s latest trailer shows off what players can do in its Fortune Valley setting.
Cars may be the most important detail in racing games, but you shouldn’t forget about your setting either – especially in an open-world, heist-focused game like Need for Speed Payback. In that spirit, EA has just unveiled a new “Welcome to Fortune Valley” trailer that introduces the game world and the benefits of exploring its nooks and crannies.
Outside of the gorgeous, Las Vegas-inspired environments, there are all kinds of gameplay elements players can uncover just by driving around. There are unlockable challenges and drag races to complete, many of which are tied to various in-game factions. There are also a variety of dealerships with new cars, tune-up shops with upgrades, and purchasable garages where you can quietly customize each of your rides. And if you’re looking for heist-based thrills, Payback has you covered with bait crate events where you race the police to reach an Escape Point with your loot.
Perhaps the most intriguing elements of Payback, however, are the scrap. Hidden across the map are various derelict chassis and parts which can be collected, repaired, and assembled in your garage to use in all gameplay modes. The trailer implies these items are among the best of Payback, encouraging players to hunt every corner of the map for new equipment.
We’ll find out for ourselves how Need for Speed Payback holds up when it launches on November 10, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
