Project Cars developer Slightly Mad is apparently making a Fast and Furious game

Project Cars developer Slightly Mad Studios may have revealed that it’s working on a Fast and Furious game in the most bizarre way.

Having just shipped Project Cars 2 – which has been reviewing well based on launch week scores – Slightly Mad CEO Ian Bell decided to spill the beans on the studio’s next project.

Bell came on for a chat during a livestream by YouTuber SpotTheOzzie (via Eurogamer). SpotTheOzzie was playing Project Cars 2, of course, but his chat with Bell got him and everyone watching more than they bargained for.

During the impromptu interview, which you can listen to below, Bell revealed that the studio has a deal with a major Hollywood company – likely referring to Universal Pictures – to make tie-in games for a major franchise for the next six years. Because the CEO had made a comparison to Need for Speed earlier, it’s safe to assume he’s talking about Fast & Furious – even if he doesn’t drop the name.

The interview is candid, and is well worth listening to, as Bell goes into how the studio managed to create a game that can compete with juggernauts like Forza, and Gran Turismo with a fraction of their budgets, as well as what he thinks of those games. He also talks a little bit about how he believes Project Cars 2 has been received by Xbox-centric and PlayStation-focused sites and magazines.

A proper announcement will be made soon, two or three weeks according to Bell.

Project Cars 2 is out September 22 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
