FIFA 18 had over 1.6 million concurrent players over the weekend

FIFA 18 was released just before last weekend, and a lot of people were online playing at the same time on that same weekend.

In a trend that we hope continues, EA has revealed peak concurrent numbers for FIFA 18 across all platforms. Over the weekend, the game had over 1.6 million players online simultaneously.

The publisher revealed the impressive figure on Twitter recently:

This is a great start to a game everyone knows is popular. Sales numbers for FIFA may have always been impressive, but concurrent player numbers paint a better picture of the player base. An active player base is an engaged one, which is a metric all publishers are chasing now more than ever.

At launch, Activision announced that Destiny 2 had 1.2 million concurrent players on its opening weekend. It’s not surprising that FIFA is more popular, though.
