Gran Turismo Sport demo had over 1 million participants, end time extended

Those wishing to spend a bit more time with the Gran Turismo Sport demo, have a few extra hours on the clock. That should please some of the over 1 million who tried the demo out this week.

Sony extended the limited time demo for Gran Turismo Sport yesterday, per a notice on the game’s information screen. This was noticed by many who were playing the demo.

The Gran Turismo Sport demo kicked off on October 9 will an original end date of October 12.

It seems the extra time allotted was due to server issues and maintenance. Per the Gran Turismo Sport’s in-game information screen posted on the GTPlanet forums, the demo period and daily races have been extended to 5pm ET, 10pm UK.

You have a few hours left, then.

On Twitter, Polyphony Digital boss and Gran Turismo creator Kaz Yamauchi noted over 1 million PlayStation 4 owners tried the demo. Well done.

All in-game progress in the Gran Turismo Sport demo will carry over to the full game upon release, and all earned in-game credit (up to $1MM) and personalized garage vehicles will be transferable.

Gran Turismo Sport will be released for PS4 on October 17. To catch up on all things Gran Turismo, give the video above a watch. It provides a look at how the series was born, along with insights into the racing simulator’s 20-year history.
