PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One version still on track for a holiday release

By Sherif Saed

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the Xbox One port of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Following the surprise announcement at E3, most of the talk at the time revolved around PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ exclusivity to Xbox One and what the fact that Microsoft will be publishing the game on Xbox actually means.

We’ve actually yet to see the game running on Xbox One hardware. All that said, Microsoft and Bluehole initially promised to release Battlegrounds later this year in Game Preview – Xbox’s equivalent of Steam Early Access.

According to Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg, this is still the plan. Greenberg confirmed this in a tweet congratulating Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene on the game’s recent success: having over 2 million concurrent players on Steam.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds does not yet have a solid release date on Xbox One, but the holiday season is not that far off.
