This Chinese PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds mobile clone may not be available in the West, but it knows exactly what’s going for.
We first caught wind of this PUBG mobile knock-off back in August, when screenshots of the game surfaced, showing a UI that’s nearly identical to Battlegrounds’.
The screenshots showed other gameplay elements that were also carried over, such as the blue wall, spawning without weapons, and other features expected in Battle Royale games. The idea wasn’t that these features were lifted, it’s that everything else also was.
Today, thanks to this Reddit post, we get to see it in action. As you might imagine, it plays out exactly as you think.
The game also still has the Terminator license, as you can clearly see at the end, and we’re still not sure why. Though it has changed a bit since we last saw it, it’s still very much a PUBG clone, down to the character models. I am still curious to see how well a game like PUBG can translate to mobile, though.
In other news about the real PUBG, developer Bluehole announced yesterday that the game won’t be getting any more live patches until the big launch later this year.
