Boss Key Productions’ beleaguered debut game will be free to play this weekend, if you want to give it a look.
Yes, it’s been just six weeks since the last free weekend, but those six weeks have not been kind to Lawbreakers. We reported back in August that Lawbreakers’ numbers were pretty low, but since then things have gotten worse.
On October 12, Lawbreakers dropped to ten players in the game concurrently. According to SteamCharts, the average concurrent player count in the last 30 days has been 45.8, which is not great. Cliff Bleszinkski even theorised that the game might do better if he was “less of a dick”.
It’s a shame, because Lawbreakers is actually pretty good. This weekend, you can find that out for yourself.
Lawbreakers is free to play this weekend, running from November 9, 6pm GMT through to November 12, 9pm GMT. This will apply only to the Steam version, so those wanting to test the game out on PS4 will have no luck. The 50% discount in effect this weekend, however, will apply to the PS4 version as well as the PC. You can get Lawbreakers for $14.99 right now, which is the cheapest it has ever been.
Of course, Call of Duty just came out, and is performing very well, but hopefully some of its players will be able to pry themselves away for a moment.
Of course, spending money on a shooter with a low playerbase is a risk, but if the free weekend goes well and converts a lot of customers there could be a bump in the game’s concurrent users.
