Sea of Thieves is looking like a proper romp in this new trailer that highlights the fun life of being a (video game) pirate.
Sea of Thieves is, of course, a very romanticised image of being a pirate (Captain Phillips would not make a very good game), which is certainly the right call if the game is as fun as it looks in this new trailer.
The ‘Be A Pirate’ trailer showcases the different aspects of pirate life in Sea of Thieves, from treasure-hauling to boat-jacking to grabbing a banana while plundering a sunken ship only to watch as three sharks hunt down another member of your crew. Savage.
We haven’t seen much of Sea of Thieves since E3, where our own Alex reported that the game was looking good as long as you have friends to play it with. We got an extended walkthrough trailer around that time too.
The video here is available in 4K, too, so you can scale it right up and take a gander at how Sea of Thieves will look on the Xbox One X. This is presumably going to be a big part of how first-party Xbox One games are marketed going forward, and when you look out at the game’s rolling waves it’s not hard to see why.
Sea of Thieves will release for Xbox One and PC at some point in 2018, although no firm date has been set yet.
