The option to buy digital gifts on the Xbox Store is now a reality.
The ability to buy games or DLC for any account other than your own is something fans have wanted for years, and Microsoft even began teasing the feature as far back as July.
Then, it quietly rolled it out to select Insiders in October, but it’s finally here for everyone. Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra broke the news on Twitter.
ICYMI: Gifting is now available to everyone in time for the holidays. Go ahead and send those digital 🎁! #Xbox

You’ll see the option to gift right next to ‘Buy’ on game pages in the store, whether you’re browsing from an Xbox One, or through a web browser. When you send someone a gift, they’ll receive an email notification.
Though it may seem small, the option to gift games has been bizarrely missing from both console marketplaces since their inception. Now that Xbox One has it, hopefully PS4 will follow suit.
