Win94 rifle is coming soon exclusively to new desert map in PUBG – another confirmed hit for dataminers

PUBG has revealed a new rifle exclusive to PlayUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ upcoming desert map.

The Win94 rifle will be a world spawn weapon, and only appear on the game’s latest map when it drops in the, hopefully, near future.

This is the third announcement of new content in the last few days following yesterday’s official pickup truck reveal, and the unveiling of a sawed-off shotgun over the weekend.

Just like those announcements however, this new weapon didn’t come as much of surprise. Dataminers found a lever-action rifle and sawed-off shotgun – along with a pickup truck – in the files of PUBG’s 1.0 test patch.

They also found a “Rhino revolver”, as well as early assets for a jet ski and a minibus. Judging by this most recent reveal, we could well be seeing those turn up quite soon.

The Win94 bears resemblance to the real-world Winchester 1894 repeating rifle, meaning it’ll most likely perform like a hunting rifle in-game. Different models of the 1894 have been manufactured to fire both small-bore rifle cartridges and handgun ammunition – so there’s a possibility it could fire either when it comes to PUBG. It certainly looks like there’s two kinds of ammo in the reveal image.

The desert map doesn’t have a release date yet, but we do know that we’ll see the first gameplay from it at The Game Awards tomorrow.
